Installation

Pixtel is supported and certified on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. The installation process is straightforward. You can download the Pixtel.msi package and either click on the package to install it or choose to install it from the Windows Store. If you install via the Windows Store, all updates will be automatically provided through the Store. You can also purchase Pixtel directly from the Store. The MSI package is recommended if the Windows Store is unavailable or disabled. To install, you can search for “Pixtel Capture” in the Windows Store and install it directly. Below are the installation screens for the MSI package.

Review End-User License Agreement and click next if acceptable

Select the installation folder. By default, it installs in C:\Program Files\Pixtel\Pixtel Desktop directory.

Click the install button to install the product.

The installer removes the previous version if any and installs the downloaded version. Once the installation is complete, enable Launch Pixtel to open the product.

Pixtel registers with services and will auto-start when the Windows starts and will be available in the system tray for use. A shortcut to start the product is installed on the desktop.

Installing Updates

Pixtel receives regular updates, each identified by a unique version number that includes the date and timestamp, which is different from other products. The version number is formatted as YY.MM.DD.HH. For example, an update released on January 24, 2025, at 10 AM would be versioned as 25.1.24.10. This format combines the version number and release date. At any given time, only one version of the product is supported. All updates are free as long as your subscription is active, and a valid license is required to receive the updates. The product automatically checks for updates, which can be installed directly. There are two methods available for updating:

1. When a new update is available, it will show up on the top right side in the main window. Just clicking the button will open the interface to download the update

  2. Help→Check for Updates will check for new update availability

Both interfaces open a window for downloading software. Clicking on the update will download the package, close the current application instance and updates the software. The update can be skipped as well if required. It is highly recommended to keep the software updated.

Applying License Key

If the product is installed from Windows Store, it can be purchased from the Windows Store or directly from the website. If product is purchased from the Windows Store, Microsoft Store will manage the license and there is no need for license key. If the product is purchased online, a license key is sent to your email address. You need to use the key to register the license key for enabling the subscription.

When the product is installed for the first time, it is set up with free license key. You can use full product with few restrictions. Please contact support, support@pixtel.us, if there is an issue. 

Checking the Installed Version

Click on Help→About Pixtel to see the currently installed version as shown below:
